Monitor Audio Gold 500 6G - Floor-standing 3-way speakers, the flagship model of the Gold 6G series. The three-way construction includes the MPD III tweeter borrowed from the older Platinum 3G models, a new 3-inch mid-range driver, and a pair of powerful 8-inch woofers. During the manufacturing of the diaphragms for the mid-range and low-frequency drivers of the Gold 6G series, the latest proprietary HDT (Hexagonal Diaphragm Technology) technology is used. Thanks to the unique hexagonal pattern on the C-CAM diffuser, the resonance frequency of the driver was increased by 10% compared to the RST II. These changes affected both the classic 6 and 8-inch bass drivers and the specialized 3-inch mid-range radiator with a neodymium magnetic system. Other characteristic features of the new drivers include copper rings in the voice coils and cast metal baskets. In addition, new suspensions and centering washers are used.
The MPD III tweeter, developed based on the Heil radiator, was borrowed from the flagship innovative model from Monitor Audio - Hyphn.
In the three-way speakers of the Gold 6G series, this tweeter is combined with the mid-range radiator into a single unit due to an aluminum overlay on the front panel. In flagship speakers like the Monitor Audio Gold 500 6G and the large bookshelf speaker Gold 100 6G, the tweeters extend beyond the upper panel. This solution minimizes diffraction and improves sound stage formation.
New speaker technologies required a redesign of the crossover filters. High-quality capacitors, precise settings, and extensive testing ensure flawless operation of the new crossovers.
