The Gold 100 6G is a large 3-way bookshelf speaker capable of creating a stunning soundstage. It delivers deep bass, detailed midrange, and realistic highs. The 8-inch HDT C-CAM woofer pairs perfectly with the 3-inch midrange driver. They are complemented harmoniously by the MPD III tweeter. Mounting on a Monitor Audio ST-2 stand provides even more placement options in the listening room.
The latest proprietary Hexagonal Diaphragm Technology (HDT) is used in the manufacturing of midrange and woofer diaphragms in the Gold 6G series speakers. The unique hexagonal pattern on the C-CAM diaphragm has allowed to increase the resonance frequency of the driver by 10% compared to the RST II.
These changes apply to both classic 6 and 8-inch bass drivers and the specialized 3-inch midrange driver with a neodymium magnetic system. Other features of the new drivers include copper rings in the voice coils and cast metal baskets. Additionally, new surrounds and centering washers are used.
The MPD III tweeter, based on the Heil Air-Motion Transformer, is borrowed from Monitor Audio's flagship innovative model – Hyphn.
In the 3-way Gold 6G series speakers, this tweeter is combined with the midrange driver into a single unit due to an aluminum overlay on the front panel. The tweeters on the flagship Monitor Audio Gold 500 6G speakers, as well as on the larger bookshelf Gold 100 6G speakers, protrude beyond the upper panel. This design minimizes diffraction and improves soundstage formation.
The new driver technologies required a revision of the crossover design. High-quality capacitors, precise tuning, and extensive testing ensure flawless operation of the new crossovers.
