The Meze 109 Pro model are the first Meze headphones with an open design, equipped with a 50mm dynamic driver. In addition, the Romanian manufacturer made sure that they were made from carefully selected and responsibly sourced materials, including walnut wood, zinc, manganese steel, and vegan leather. As a result, comfortable, lightweight, but very durable headphones were created, capable of producing a natural, emotionally engaging listening experience.

The Meze 109 Pro uses a two-composite membrane from the 109 series, consisting of a torus made of semicrystalline polymer with beryllium coating, a dome made of composite cellulose-carbon fiber, and a ring stabilizer made of copper-zinc alloy.
Meze claims that the ultra-light, but rigid composite of cellulose reinforced with carbon fiber allows the W-shaped dome to reproduce high frequencies (claimed specification 5 Hz - 30 kHz and impedance 40 ohms) and apparently also helps to soften resonances that could lead to harmonic distortion.
The ultra-thin torus (22 microns) surrounding the dome is made of semicrystalline polymer with beryllium coating, and the high damping properties of beryllium suppress unwanted resonances. Finally, a ring-shaped stabilizer made of a copper-zinc alloy is located around the perimeter of the membrane, which improves vibration absorption and further reduces distortion.
The membrane is enclosed in a high-precision processed aluminum frame that has increased rigidity compared to typical plastic frames. It is also noted that it maintains perfect surface flatness, which is very important for precision assembly with the membrane.
The driver in the 109 Pro is positioned at a precise angle and distance from the ear to achieve the ideal anatomical fit for the most natural sound perception. Additionally, the spider-like structure and acoustically transparent grill inside the earcup open the driver on both sides, creating the most open Meze model to date.
Soft, breathable velour and memory foam earpads provide comfort and superior sealing for an immersive experience, while the self-adjusting spring steel headband evenly distributes weight to reduce pressure.
