McIntosh RS150 Wireless Speaker System
In developing the active wireless acoustic system McIntosh RS150, the company's engineers aimed to preserve the recognizable and beloved external appearance of McIntosh equipment, and they succeeded. The speaker features an original lower glass panel styled after the classic company's amplifiers, with a level indicator arrow and a pair of handles with silver accents. The left handle is for turning the speaker on, while the right is for volume control. The McIntosh RS150 is mounted on a metal stand that ensures its stability on various surfaces. The outer finish of the speaker is in black lacquer, with a front protective grille that has magnetic fastening.
The power of the McIntosh RS150 has been doubled compared to the RS100 model: the woofer now has 90 watts, while the tweeter has 30 watts. The low-frequency driver has also been upgraded from 4 inches to a 5-1/4-inch driver; along with the increased and modernized enclosure, this provides higher performance with less distortion. Bass control has also been added. Together, all these improvements help deliver the legendary sound performance of McIntosh.
To connect the McIntosh RS150 to your network, it has a wired Ethernet port and supports dual-band Wi-Fi protocols. The McIntosh RS150 is also compatible with Google Assistant for voice control. The speaker does not require a specific app for control; instead, it is equipped with various built-in technologies such as Spotify Connect, TIDAL, AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, Chromecast, and Roon Ready, making it easy to stream data to the McIntosh RS150 from your smart devices.
The McIntosh RS150 is compatible with high-resolution TIDAL Hi-Fi digital music files at 24-bit/192kHz. With built-in high-resolution streaming capabilities, the RS150 is the ultimate Roon Ready device; Roon Ready network devices feature built-in Roon streaming technology and are certified by Roon Labs to provide the highest level of quality and performance for network streaming.
For Bluetooth connectivity, the McIntosh RS150 uses Bluetooth 5.0 with support for both AAC and Qualcomm aptX-HD for high-resolution audio playback. It also includes Qualcomm aptX Low Latency to increase the speed of sound transmission for synchronizing sound with corresponding visual media.
The McIntosh RS150 is a stand-alone device, but two of these speakers can be paired to create a stereo pair, and up to 16 McIntosh speakers (or 8 stereo pairs) can be part of a multi-room system, each playing its own music.
