Magnat Signature 503
The Magnat Signature 503 is a three-way bookshelf speaker with a phase inverter type design.
Features:
- Hi-Resolution certification;
- Dual tweeter with fmax technology;
- 3-way design with rear phase inverter;
- Optimization using Klippel laser equipment;
- Ventilated voice coil for maximum stability and dynamics;
- Efficient for stereo systems and home theaters.
To reproduce low frequencies up to 2800 Hz, a long-throw midrange/woofer FE-Dynamics with a reinforced paper diaphragm is used. Its 170 mm diameter ensures operation from 32 Hz. From 2800 to 17500 Hz, sound is reproduced by a 30 mm soft dome Fmax with an extra-long stroke, and from 17500 to 53000 Hz, a 19 mm super tweeter Fmax assists. All drivers feature powerful neodymium magnetic systems, ventilated coils, and cast baskets. The crossovers are amplitude and phase optimized with a fourth-order filter with a 24 dB per octave slope. The phase inverter system covers a range from 32 to 53,000 Hz and has a sensitivity of 91 dB with a nominal impedance of 4 to 8 ohms.
The Magnat Signature 503 can handle up to 100 watts of power (with peaks up to 170 watts), and a recommended amplifier should output at least 20 watts per channel. The wide dispersion pattern of the speakers and unusually high upper frequency limit allowed them to receive the prestigious Hi-Res Seal. Large isolated terminals with thick gold-plated screw contacts ensure a good connection for thick wires. The sturdy low-resonance construction of the housing is made of MDF. It includes an aerodynamic port with low flow noise and removable fabric grilles.
