If you ever wondered if there were multi-functional, fully active floor-standing speakers, now you know - they do exist. With the same front panel width as the 3A model, the Monitor Reference 5A stands at 908 mm tall, making it a full-size floor-standing speaker. This format leaves no doubt that you are looking at a true Hi-Fi system.
The 25mm dome tweeter (as in other models in the series) driven by a well-established ferrite magnet performs exceptionally well. Below the tweeter on the front panel are two 170mm drivers. The first serves as a midrange/woofer handling the vocal range, while the second is solely dedicated to reproducing deep bass. The use of high-quality components and materials here is fully justified: the bass of the floor model in the Monitor Reference series extends down to 28 Hz. Yet the speakers themselves look sleek and elegant, fitting perfectly into any interior.
The power of the built-in amplifier here is even greater: 60W continuous power (120W peak) per channel. The configuration is completed by a wide range of connections: HDMI input, direct player connection input, Bluetooth with aptX Low Latency support, as well as analog and digital connections. The manufacturer did not skimp on materials either: the Monitor Reference 5A model weighs 14.7 and 13.8 kg (active and passive speakers respectively).
