Mackie Onyx8 is the entry-level model in the Onyx series of mixers. It is an 8-channel analog mixer with per-channel recording, effects processor, and USB connectivity.
Studio Command
With Studio Command, navigating through the effects block parameters, recording to an SD card, and playback have never been easier. Browse files on the memory card using the built-in display. Additionally, there are physical buttons for Previous, Next, Record, and Play or Pause. Save up to 6 user FX presets and easily recall them.
Backlighting
The Mackie Onyx8 mixer features easily readable buttons that brightly illuminate in the dark, so you will always know what is happening with your mix. Additionally, the full-color Studio Command display simplifies setup and control.
Perkins EQ
To create the Perkins EQ, Cal Perkins started with the Wien Bridge topology circuit design - a very musical design inspired by respected "British" consoles from the 60s and 70s. Essentially, this design rejects frequency cuts or boosts in favor of a wider and more musical Q-filter. After extensive experimentation, Perkins was able to determine the values of the capacitor and resistor that would give the EQ an additional 6 dB of control (±15 dB) without excessive narrowing of the filter's bandwidth.
