The Mackie MR624 is an active near-field studio monitor, belonging to the fourth generation of the MR series of professional acoustic systems and is the middle model in this line. The monitor is designed for working with audio material, mixing and mastering music compositions, film soundtracks, and games. It is also suitable for monitoring during recording, allowing for a linear amplitude-frequency response, absence of audible distortion even at maximum volume, and a wide frequency range.
For audio reproduction, it features a 6.5-inch polypropylene woofer and a 1-inch silk dome tweeter with a neodymium magnet. These drivers can reproduce a frequency range from 45 Hz to 20 kHz with an uneven frequency response of -3 dB. If there is a lack of low frequencies, the optional MRS10 subwoofer can be purchased, which is also part of the MR line. The amplifier is class A/B and offers Bi-Amp amplification: maximum power for the woofer is 80W, and for the tweeter, it is 50W.
The connectivity options include a balanced XLR input, a balanced/unbalanced 1/4" jack TRS input, and an unbalanced RCA input. The connection panel also features a volume control, a high-frequency range adjustment allowing for a +/-2 dB boost or attenuation in the 3 kHz area, and Acoustic Space technology, which optimizes the low-frequency tone of the monitor up to approximately 500 Hz depending on its placement in the room.
