Chemtrails Over the Country Club is the seventh studio album by American singer Lana Del Rey, released on March 19, 2021, via Interscope and Polydor. The album was produced by Jack Antonoff, who previously worked with Del Rey on Norman Fucking Rockwell!. The disc includes the song "Yosemite", recorded several years earlier with Rick Nowels, a frequent co-producer for Del Rey in the past. In addition, this is the singer's first release since Lust for Life (2017), with guest artists Nikki Laine, Zella Day, and Wise Blood.
Chemtrails is an Americana, folk, and country album. The album's songs explore aspects of fame and authenticity, and deal with escapism and the musician's place in the industry. Joni Mitchell's work is the most influential influence on the album's style. The album received widespread acclaim from music critics, who again praised Del Rey's writing skills, strong and memorable melodies, Antonoff's production, and the lack of weak tracks. They also noted the similarities in sound to Norman Fucking Rockwell!. However, the release of Chemtrails was accompanied by controversy surrounding the album's artwork and several of the singer's statements related to music and politics.
The album was supported by four singles: "Let Me Love You Like a Woman", "Chemtrails Over the Country Club", "White Dress", and "Tulsa Jesus Freak". Although the songs did not achieve much success on the charts, they were received positively by critics. Each song was accompanied by a music video. The album was a commercial success; it gave Del Rey her fifth #1 on the UK Albums Chart and number two on the charts in Australia, Belgium, Ireland, the Netherlands, and New Zealand.
