Description

The Lake People G108 is a compact studio headphone amplifier with the highest sound quality designed for professional mixing and mastering. The G108 is optimized for ultra-low noise and distortion levels and supports the use of two headphone pairs simultaneously.

Features:

  • Japanese ALPS potentiometers for volume and balance control
  • Balanced XLR input and unbalanced RCA input
  • XLR and 6.3mm headphone outputs
  • Output power up to 1200 mW
  • Operating modes: stereo, mono, and polarity change
  • THD distortion level: <0.001%
  • Crosstalk: <-70 dB (at 15 kHz)
  • Anodized aluminum housing
  • Improved output signal, signal-to-noise ratio, and suppression of crosstalk interference

The device features a dual push-pull configuration with four individual amplifiers, promising outstanding spatiality and precise stereo panorama.

The inputs are located on the rear panel, equipped with balanced XLR connectors and standard RCA connectors, selectable via relays. The front panel offers two controls for volume and balance adjustment. The G108 is equipped with two headphone outputs, featuring 6.3mm and XLR connectors.

With high internal voltage, low output impedance, and adjustable gain (via internal jumpers), the G108 is suitable for driving headphones with an impedance ranging from 16 to 600 ohms.

Reliability, even under harsh or improper operating conditions, was a key goal in the development. Therefore, the device is completely immune to short circuits. Additionally, the G108 is equipped with filters to prevent overload from inaudible low and high frequencies.

The device also utilizes a pre-amplification circuit used in other Lake People and Violectric products, with the amount of pre-amplification adjustable within the device from -18 to +18 dB via dip switches, allowing users to optimize the gain settings according to their chosen headphones.

The G108 boasts a frequency range of 2 Hz to 150 kHz within -3 dB, a signal-to-noise ratio of 122 dBA, and a total harmonic distortion and noise level of less than 0.001%.

The housing of the G108 is made of black anodized aluminum. This provides high mechanical stability and resistance to rough handling. The housing surfaces ensure excellent electrical conductivity for optimal EMC characteristics.

Power output

This is the useful power developed by the amplifier in the load resistance. Amplifiers are usually characterized by the highest power that can be obtained at the output, provided that the distortion does not exceed the specified permissible value. This power is called the output power of the amplifier.
