On December 6th and 7th 1976, in a small jazz club called Stampen (Pawn Shop) in Stockholm, Swedish sound engineer Gert Palmcrantz recorded a live performance by a group of leading Scandinavian jazzmen, led by the legendary Swedish saxophonist and clarinetist Arne Domnaerus. The conditions were far from ideal, a crowd and a lot of background noise, without any rehearsals or sound checks, but... The resulting album is now often regarded years later as "The Best Jazz Recording of the Century". Surprisingly, for a small country like Sweden, it sold over half a million copies, and still sells around 4,000 copies a year... A truly magnificent recording and sound!
