Mercury - Act I is the fifth studio album by American rock band Imagine Dragons, released via Interscope Records. The album was released on September 3, 2021, and was produced by Rick Rubin (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys). Ahead of the album's release, the band released two singles, "Follow You" and "Cutthroat". They were Imagine Dragons' first new albums since 2018, when the band's previous album, Origins, was released.
Frontman Dan Reynolds described the album as being divided into two sides: one organic and inward-looking, the other more aggressive and outward-looking. The album touches on themes of loss, loneliness, and grief, while also celebrating life. The album has received mixed reviews from critics, with positives being the overall maturation of the band's material, while others have called the album trite and lacking in integrity.
