ZEN Air CAN is a powerful analog amplifier that offers excellent sound quality for headphones when connected to any analog source, such as a PC, CD player, smartphone, tablet, streamer, or television.
The amplifier features three gain settings, which are 0 dB, +9 dB, and +18 dB. These settings allow for precise matching with different headphones. The 0 dB mode is ideal for sensitive in-ear headphones, as it provides low noise levels. The higher gain settings are suitable for more demanding headphones, delivering excellent dynamic headroom. The ZEN Air CAN comes with two headphone jacks, one 6.3 mm and one 4.4 mm balanced.
There are two main types of headphones - classic and balanced. Classic headphones are the most common, but balanced headphones are often considered superior due to their increased power and control. However, not everyone has balanced headphones. To address this, iFi engineers developed S-Balanced technology, which provides the benefits of a balanced connection, such as lower noise levels and reduced crosstalk, without requiring balanced headphones.
The amplifier also offers a feature called XSpace Soundstage Mode, which compensates for the "in-head sound" effect that can be experienced when using headphones. It simulates the soundstage created by a stereo speaker setup, expanding the headphone's soundstage and providing a more accurate acoustic experience.
Additional features of the ZEN Air CAN include XBass low-frequency extension for enhanced bass performance, XSpace spatial sound for a more immersive experience, S-Balanced technology for improved audio quality, and both 6.3 mm and 4.4 mm outputs for compatibility with different headphone types. The amplifier is built using high-quality components to ensure top-notch performance.
The Can Signature Output Power of the ZEN Air CAN is as follows:
- 32 Ohm: 6.2 V/1200 mW
- 64 Ohm: 6.5 V/660 mW
- 600 Ohm: 6.7 V/75 mW
The package includes:
