The Lark M1 is a new compact radio system in an ultracompact body. The model is designed for bloggers, streamers, and creating high-quality digital content. Like all devices developed by Hollyland Technology, the Lark M1 SOLO has excellent ergonomic design, quality electronics, and can provide detailed sound recording within a range of up to 200 meters in direct line of sight. Thanks to the exclusive automatic frequency hopping technology, the system maintains connection stability between the receiver and transmitter even in challenging work conditions. The enhanced original HearClear noise-canceling system filters out surrounding noise for clear voice recording.
The Hollyland Lark M1 SOLO, unlike the Lark M1 Duo version, consists of one receiver and one transmitter. The system supports two working modes: Stereo, where sound from the transmitter is output to only one receiver channel, and Mono, where sound from the transmitter is present on both left and right output channels of the receiver. The receiver of the Lark M1 SOLO kit weighs only 17.5 grams, which does not overload filming equipment and does not cause trouble with placement. The receiver's clip mount is designed to attach to a camera's hot shoe, rig, camera strap, or any clothing item of the operator, sound engineer, or sound designer.
On the side of the receiver, there is an output for connecting audio recording equipment and a power button. On the other side are buttons for adjusting the output signal level. These same buttons are used for synchronizing the receiver with the transmitter, if needed, and for switching system modes. There is also a USB Type-C port for connecting an external power source. This is convenient for extending the receiver's working time. The port is also used for updating the system firmware. It is important to note that the Lark M1 SOLO cannot function as a sound card for a computer and does not output a signal via USB Type-C. To record sound, the receiver's audio output should be used by connecting it to the computer's audio interface with a 3.5mm TRS – 3.5mm TRS cable.
Unlike its older sibling, the Lark 150 Solo system, the Lark M1 SOLO does not have a display with real-time information. All system modes are displayed using two LED indicators on the front of the receiver. The indicators show the working mode, the transmitter's or receiver's battery level. The receiver and transmitter buttons are designed to prevent accidental mode switching during operation. For example, holding the corresponding button for some time is required to turn the power on or off.
The transmitter weighs only 11.8 grams, with a size smaller than half of a matchbox. This weight and size do not burden the speaker's clothing items or prominently stand out in the frame.
The transmitter of the Hollyland Lark M1 SOLO system is equipped with a built-in microphone with omnidirectional cardioid characteristics. The microphone's acoustic characteristics are optimized by a smooth grid with fine cells. The difference from the Lark 150 Solo is that the Lark M1 SOLO transmitter cannot be connected to lavalier-type wired microphones. The audio input is absent. Nevertheless, this does not affect the quality of the recorded sound.
On the bottom of the Lark M1 Solo transmitter, there is a USB Type-C port for connecting an external power source to extend the working time or charge the battery without using a charging case.
The transmitter's housing has an LED synchronization indicator and operation modes indicator on the side. On the side, there are power on-off and HearClear noise-canceling system buttons. The same button is used to synchronize the receiver with the transmitter, if needed.
The built-in batteries of the Lark M1 Solo receiver and transmitter, when fully charged, can provide continuous operation for up to 8 hours.
The full charging time for either device in the Lark M1 Solo kit is 1.5 hours.
The standard package of the Hollyland Lark M1 SOLO includes one receiver, one transmitter, one windscreen for the transmitter's microphone, a cable for connection to a video camera, a cable for connection to a smartphone, a USB Type-C charging and firmware update cable, a storage case for the system and accessories, a warranty card, and user manual.
