The Heritage Audio BritStrip is an analog preamp/compressor designed to work with individual instruments during mixing/recording stages, as well as with finished compositions as part of the mastering section.

The Heritage Audio BritStrip features a fully discrete Class A circuit with new transformers developed in collaboration with Carnhill. The preamp provides signal amplification up to 80 dB with a vintage character. The device is equipped with an independent JFET circuit (DI) for recording instruments with high impedance and a three-band EQ with a low-frequency filter.
The BritStrip uses a simplified version of the Heritage Audio Successor compressor, known for its ultra-fast attack and release parameters, as well as a parallel processing option.
For maximum sound customization flexibility, the Dyn function allows changing the order of the compressor and EQ in the signal path. Connectivity options include TRS DI/Thru, XLR output, XLR Line/Mic, and SideChain Send/Return.
Microphone Preamp Section:
- Balanced inputs and outputs with Carnhill-based transformer coupling for additional character and vintage vibe
- Class A output stages in the style of 73 for desired 73 sound in mixes or drum buses
- Microphone input impedance: HI, minimum 1200 Ohms, LO, minimum 300 Ohms
- DI input impedance: over 2 megohms, unbalanced
- Output impedance: Less than 75 Ohms, balanced transformer, floating, for managing a load of 600 Ohms
EQ Section:
- High and low-frequency bands with additional bell response
- Mid-range band based on dual Winkor inductor with extended Q function
- Low-frequency filter based on inductor
Compression Section:
- Diode bridge compression provides 2nd order harmonic distortion and true vintage tone
- Extremely fast attack and release times for flexible settings, including FET-like sounds and maximizing volume without artifacts
- Complex side chain filtering options work with common high-frequency filters, introducing peak-type filters in the mid-range and high-frequency compression
- Sidechain SEND and RETURN connectors for external sidechain signals or further external processing of internal signal
- Blend control offers built-in parallel compression without external equipment
- Blend ON/OFF button allows instant comparison of WET and DRY signals
- Stepped controls for easy recall of settings
