The Hegel V10 phono preamplifier is built using all the knowledge and experience of the company's engineers in the field of creating transistor-based audio equipment. The device is housed in a small metal case, with a single power button with an indicator on the front panel. The Hegel V10 is designed to work with MM and MC cartridges.

Inside the device's case, it is divided into two parts to eliminate interference from the power source on sensitive audio circuits. The power supply block of the Hegel V10 is external and is connected in an original way - the corresponding connectors are located in a niche on the bottom panel. This is also done to reduce the level of interference. Unlike most similar models from other companies, the power supply block of the Hegel V10 is proprietary, made based on a transformer with separate outputs for each channel.
Out of the box, the phono preamplifier is configured for full operation with MM cartridges. But perhaps its main advantage is its incredible flexibility in settings. For example, the capacitance for MM cartridges can be adjusted from 100 to 467 pF. And the impedance for MC cartridges ranges from 33 to 550 ohms or 47 kOhms.
The gain factor, depending on the type of cartridge and output used, ranges from 34 to 72 dB. In addition, there is a switchable third-order subsonic filter with a 3 dB drop at 20 Hz. The output resistance of the preamplifier is 200 ohms, channel separation is 84 dB.
On the back panel of the device, there are RCA inputs for MM and MC cartridges, as well as balanced and unbalanced outputs. The contacts of all connectors are gold-plated to ensure a stable connection over time. Next to the connectors of each channel, there are micro switches for adjusting input parameters and changing the gain factor. This allows you to optimize the Hegel V10 to work with different cartridge models. The audio circuit of the phono preamp is built on low-noise JFET transistors, with four such transistors used for each channel at the input for the MC cartridge, connected in parallel. This completely eliminates current leakage through the cartridge coils and eliminates background noise.
Thanks to the convenient placement of the controls and their clear labeling, the device is very easy to use. Optimal settings for input capacitance and resistance of the phono preamp are usually indicated for each cartridge model, but enthusiasts can choose different values if desired. In addition, the Hegel V10 is equipped with a switchable subsonic filter, allowing you to avoid amplifier overload.
