The Fostex TH900mk2 closed-back monitor headphones belong to the second generation of headphones, which replaced the popular premium flagship model TH900.

The model features ear cups made from Japanese cherry birch wood. Each cup undergoes a complex processing procedure and is coated with adhesive, followed by a thin layer of silver foil. The surface is then finished with traditional Japanese natural "Urushi" lacquer in a burgundy color, dried, and polished with the brand logo applied using platinum foil.
Equally important in the design are the large 50mm drivers, equipped with a neodymium magnetic system with a magnetic field induction of 1.5 Tesla, providing a wide dynamic range. The drivers feature a diaphragm made from lightweight bio-cellulose fiber with a high Young's modulus. This material allows for a 2x increase in membrane vibration speed and a 5x increase in stiffness compared to conventional polymer film diaphragms, resulting in precise high-resolution sound.
The headband and ear pads of the Fostex TH900mk2 headphones are finished with soft elastic synthetic leather, providing the necessary level of comfort. The flagship model also boasts good passive noise isolation. Size adjustment is discrete along two guides. The main difference in the mk2 version from the previous model is the use of a detachable unbalanced dual-sided cable with OFC copper conductors purified to 7N (99.99999%). The cable length is 3m, with two 2-pin connectors with rhodium plating for connection to the ear cups and a 6.3mm plug in an aluminum housing for connection to the source. An optional balanced cable ET-H3.0N7BL with a 4-pole XLR connector is available.
Included in the package is a stand for hanging the headphones and a carrying case. The Fostex TH900mk2 flagship model features a high sensitivity, wide frequency range, and low impedance of 25 Ohms, making it suitable for connection to portable signal sources. This model weighs 390 grams without the cable. The headphones deliver open, energetic, and realistic sound with clarity, warm tonal balance, a flat midrange, and moderately deep saturated bass.
