The Fostex TH80 are premium-class open-back headphones developed based on the TH909, Fostex's first-class open-back headphones. The housing is made of solid black walnut, high-quality wood, and features the patented BioDyna membrane driver technology of their own production. These new premium-class headphones are carefully assembled one by one at the factory in Japan.
The driver is borrowed from Fostex's own TH900 series with a magnetic flux density of 1.5 Tesla, and the original acoustic system used in the TH808 ensures high sound quality across a wide frequency range. The driver, developed using patented technologies accumulated over many years, combines bio-cellulose fiber and other fibers in the membrane under optimal conditions to achieve low specific gravity, high Young's modulus, and high internal losses.
Low distortion and a super-strong magnetic circuit with a magnetic flux density of 1.5 Tesla, using a neodymium magnet matrix, and good free-edge linearity provide excellent sensitivity and a wide dynamic range across the entire frequency spectrum, reproducing not only fine details with high resolution and a beautiful mid-high range, but also accurately reproducing low midrange frequencies with a large amplitude.
Unique Open-Back Housing
The housing is made of solid black walnut, high-quality wood, and features a unique design with an open hole and dual aluminum parts with engraving that change their appearance depending on the lighting and viewing angle. The combination of a carefully selected diaphragm and internal components with the resonance of the black walnut array creates a natural sound field that is pleasant to listen to and does not tire the listener.
Original OFC-Uneven Cable
The package includes the original high-purity copper cable (oxygen-free copper) that is thoroughly purified from impurities for improved performance. Connectors with rhodium plating for increased hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance, as well as contact terminals on the headphone body side. Balanced connection is also supported with the XLR cable (ET-H3.0N7BL) (sold separately).
Low Resilience Earpads
The earpads are similar to the TH909 model, with low-resilience pads that cover the back of the ears to reduce sound leakage, and carefully selected high-quality synthetic leather for a pleasant feel and comfortable fit even after prolonged use.
