The Fostex TH616 is a limited edition model, made in Japan from high-quality wood with a glowing pattern. This product was released in honor of Fostex's 50th anniversary. The headphone housing is crafted from solid black walnut wood, featuring intricate woodworking reminiscent of traditional Japanese carvings. The open-back design provides excellent acoustic characteristics. Each pair of headphones is meticulously assembled in Japan, combining Japanese craftsmanship with outstanding acoustic engineering to offer a premium listening experience.
Semi-Open Housing
The housing is made from solid black walnut wood, resulting in unique variations in grain, bark, color, knots, etc. However, these differences do not affect the sound quality. The high-quality wood and open-back design are intended to resemble the glow of natural light, creating a fantastic visual effect inspired by sunlight filtering through trees. This precisely machined construction reduces weight, enhances rigidity, eliminates surface uniformity, and reduces unwanted resonance by suppressing modal vibrations. To prevent the sound impact caused by resonating open holes, all holes have varying sizes to suppress resonance at specific frequencies.
Biodyna Diaphragm
The ultra-thin Biodyna diaphragm is made from bio-cellulose fiber, blended with other fibers and materials under optimal conditions. This results in a low specific weight, high Young's modulus, and high internal losses. In addition to reproducing fine, high-resolution mid-high frequencies, the free edge accurately reproduces low frequencies in the mid-range with a large amplitude.
Durable Magnetic Circuit
The magnetic circuit features a 50mm driver with a magnetic flux density of 1 Tesla. The robust magnetic circuit ensures low distortion and a wide dynamic range. The updated driver provides precise reproduction of low and high frequencies, allowing for accurate sound localization and field reproduction. Like its predecessors, this new product is characterized by reliable quality due to integrated production at the company's own factory in Japan.
High-Quality and Lightweight Mechanical Parts
Aluminum is widely used in manufacturing mechanical parts to ensure high quality and low weight. A high specific gravity resin is used for the partition to reduce resonant noise, providing high resolution, rich mid-range frequencies, and high-quality reproduction of low frequencies.
High-Performance Pure Copper Headphone Cable
High-quality HiFC cables made of pure copper with excellent conductivity are used for detailed reproduction of all frequency ranges. The cable terminals and connection points on the headphone housing are rhodium-plated for high hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance, enhancing reliability. For symmetrical connections, the optional balanced cable ET-H3.0N7BL (sold separately) can be used.
