The Fostex TH1000RP MK2 are the flagship headphones of the RP line, meticulously assembled at a factory in Japan using the latest premium class RP planar driver developed by Fostex.
This product is the MK2 version of the flagship RP headphones, carefully assembled one by one at a factory in Japan using Fostex's premium class RP driver with a fully managed flat diaphragm, optimized diaphragm movement based on air damping within the driver, and a connector that easily reconnects. The flagship MK2 headphones are meticulously assembled one by one at a factory in Japan. The beautiful indigo color and wood texture of the housing, hand-painted by experienced Awa Indigo masters, combined with the stunning resolution and precise expressive power of the premium class RP drivers deliver exquisite sound where traditional craftsmanship and acoustic technologies coexist. The RP technology is Fostex's patented technology that moves the entire surface of the flat diaphragm in a regular phase.
High-Quality RP Driver MK2 with Optimized Diaphragm Movement through Air Damping
The premium class RP driver, developed using the largest diaphragm ever used in a fully managed flat membrane driver based on RP technology, which has been perfected since 1974, has been further optimized with MK2 technology through air damping management inside the driver, regulation of air flow using damping materials, and new ear pads. This ensures ideal diaphragm amplitude, especially in the low-frequency range. The large diaphragm and magnetic scheme of the Premium RP driver suppress unwanted resonance, providing clear response, high sensitivity, smooth frequency characteristics, and excellent transient characteristics. In addition, the MK2 version provides precise and clear reproduction of sound images from the low to high frequency range in space with precise localization.
Solid Maple Wood Housing
The housing is made of solid maple wood, known as a material for guitars, painted with Awa Aizome paint from Tokushima, which has long been valued for its high-quality coloring. The wood is meticulously painted one by one by experienced masters, resulting in a deep indigo color that beautifully complements the unique texture of solid maple wood. Using Aizome, made exclusively from indigo plants, allows the density and specific weight of solid maple wood to be used, which does not add unnecessary tones to the sound, allowing the player to reproduce stable, deep bass and clear, extended high-frequency range.
Awa Aizome Indigo painting
The solid maple wood housing is finished with traditional Japanese Awa Aizome paint, developed in collaboration with local masters. Awa Aizome indigo, long valued for its use in high-quality coloring, was developed in collaboration with Awa indigo masters and used to color the solid maple wood housing, known as a material for guitars. Each product is carefully painted by experienced masters, resulting in a deep blue indigo color that beautifully accentuates the unique texture of solid maple wood. In the painting process using "Hon-ai," made exclusively from plant indigo, the properties of the dense solid maple wood are utilized, which does not add unnecessary tonality to the sound, providing stable, deep low-frequency range and clear, resonant high-frequency range.
Application of Lightweight Magnesium Alloy Material
The updated design of mechanical parts, such as the housing support loops and headband, made of magnesium alloy, allows for a 20% reduction in overall weight compared to aluminum. Rubber padding is used to eliminate excess vibration in the swivel mechanism. The design concept, considering every detail, further enhances wearing comfort.
New MK2 Ear Pads with New Shape and Two-Layer Internal Structure
The new MK2 ear pads have a slanted design on the side that touches the face, providing maximum comfort. The low-density polyurethane foam inner structure has a two-layer structure: soft on the outer side and highly elastic on the inner side to fit the shape of the face. Additionally, the use of synthetic protein silk-based leather, which is three times stronger than the previous model, ensures comfortable wear even during long listening sessions.
Elastic Headband Cover
The headband cover is made of natural sheepskin, providing a soft and comfortable fit.
High-Purity OFC Cable
The MK2 version uses a 3.5mm 2-pole connector, increasing compatibility with other cables and their versatility. High-purity OFC (oxygen-free copper) cable is used in the internal wiring and included unbalanced cable, rated 7N (99.99999%), minimizing impurities and ensuring maximum transmission efficiency.
