The headphones are equipped with the 4th generation RP driver from Fostex, which has been perfected for over 50 years since its creation, in a solid cherry wood housing painted by Awa Indigo masters in Tokushima, as well as internal wiring made of class 7N material and additional Ultrasuede earpads in the standard kit. The cherry wood housing painted in Awa indigo color and high-quality sound components further highlight the attractiveness of the T60RPmk2ai model.
This is the first model in the T60RP series produced in Japan, and each device is carefully assembled at the factory in Japan, so you can enjoy the model's appeal for listening, combining traditional craftsmanship and acoustic technologies. RP technology is Fostex's patented technology that uniformly moves the entire surface of the flat diaphragm.
Handcrafted housing and painting
The cherry wood housing was developed in collaboration with Awa Ai and finished with a traditional Japanese dye called "Hon Ai." Each cherry wood housing is carefully painted with Awa Ai from Tokushima, developed in collaboration with experienced masters, and painted in a deep indigo color that perfectly accentuates the wood texture. The dyeing "Hon Ai", made exclusively from plant-based indigo, allows the use of cherry wood without adding unnecessary color to the sound, allowing you to enjoy clear, deep bass and a clean, extended range of high frequencies without any muddiness.
The housing is made of natural wood, so each piece may have differences in grain, bark, color, knots, etc., but this will not affect the sound quality. Please keep this in mind.
RP driver evolves to the 4th generation
The 4th generation planar driver from RP technology, refined over 50 years of using proprietary technologies, features an increased number of magnets that connect the diaphragm, and a new shape of printed coils, allowing to expand the vibration zone of the planar diaphragm and increase its uniformity. In addition, the components of the magnetic circuit have been redesigned to optimize the distribution of the magnetic flux, suppressing unwanted diaphragm resonance and achieving sharp responses to sound changes. The fourth-generation driver, developed with the full implementation of various modern technologies, simultaneously provides increased sensitivity, smooth frequency response for monitoring convenience, and excellent transient characteristics. The new driver provides precise and refined reproduction of low and high frequencies, ensuring more accurate localization and sound field reproduction. Additionally, like in the past, the new product is manufactured within the company's own production process to ensure reliable quality.
High-purity 7N class OFC cables
To achieve high-quality sound, the same high purity OFC (oxygen-free copper) cable of 7N grade (99.999999%) is used as the material for internal wiring, maximally purified from impurities to increase bandwidth. The 3.5mm stereo mini-plugs on the left and right housing not only improve compatibility when replacing cables but also demonstrate the potential to provide high-quality sound when replacing cables. The standard asymmetrical cable uses high-quality OFC audio conductor.
Additional Ultrasuede earpads
Additional Ultrasuede earpads made by Toray Industries, Inc. are included in the standard kit. These earpads are soft and comfortable to the touch, providing smooth and high-quality sound from low to high frequencies.
Awa Aizome Indigo painting
Awa indigo from Tokushima has long been known throughout Japan as an indispensable dye for coloring high-class products due to its beautiful color. However, it was difficult to paint wood using traditional methods, and many trials and errors had to be made, adjusting the dye concentration, fermentation process, and soil preparation. During this process, temperature and humidity changes affect the drying of the paint, and the conditions under which fine paint particles penetrate the wood structure vary depending on the graininess of each housing. As a result, a housing with a deep blue hue, unique to Hon-Ai paint, is obtained, beautifully highlighting the smooth texture of cherry wood, with the texture of each housing differing from left to right, creating a truly innovative colored housing. The paint for the Hon-Ai housing is also used as part of the blue color in Hokusai Katsushika's painting "Fugaku Sanjurokkei" ("Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji").
