Fostex T50RP MK4 Closed are closed-back headphones with passive noise isolation and fourth-generation planar magnetic drivers. The basis for these headphones are the fourth-generation planar magnetic drivers, from where the MK4 designation in the name comes from. The first generation of these drivers was released over 50 years ago, and since then, this technology has been constantly improved. The latest version features an increased number of magnets, optimizing the magnetic field shape. The design of the flat coil has been changed to expand the vibration zone of the flat diaphragm.
Features:
- The patented Regular Phase (RP) driver diaphragm utilizes copper-etched foil, polyamide film, and a powerful neodymium magnet.
- Maximum input power of 3000 mW allows for use in various professional fields.
- Improved ear pads and headphone construction provide maximum comfort.
- Balanced connection capability.
Version with Passive Noise Isolation
The T50RPmk4CL is the latest model in the T50RPMMK4 series, featuring a closed-back design embraced by professional music studios worldwide for over 50 years. The T50RPmk4, equipped with a fourth-generation RP driver, is presented as a long-awaited closed-back device. These headphones offer precise sound reproduction, typical for RP drivers, providing a tight sound monitoring that suppresses sound leakage during studio vocal recording, instrument play, and mixing.
The sealed housing is based on the semi-open T50RPmk4 model, with meticulous sound insulation for each ventilation part and sound balance tuning. This provides sound isolation, allowing for a more focused monitoring of the rich original sound. The internal shape of the housing is identical between T50RPmk4CL and T50RPmk4 models, allowing you to choose either closed or semi-open type based on your work requirements without worrying about sound differences between recording and mixing tasks.
4th Generation RP Driver
The headphones feature a significantly updated RP driver with a flat diaphragm controlled by a full field, originally developed by Fostex. RP drivers have been recognized by musicians and studio engineers worldwide for monitoring purposes. The RP 4th generation drivers use traditional RP driver technology alongside a new housing design, further enhancing the flat diaphragm sound quality.
The RP magnetic drive technology, developed over 50 years ago and constantly improved, is now in its fourth generation. A new coil shape was used to expand and align the vibration zone of the flat diaphragm. Additionally, the number of magnets connecting the membrane was significantly increased. The magnetic circuit components were reworked to optimize magnetic flux distribution, suppress unwanted resonance, and achieve even better transient response.
Balanced Connection
Both the left and right housings come with connectors for the included cable, allowing the cable to be plugged in from either side, depending on usage conditions. The symmetry in the positioning of the left and right housings eliminates differences in sound characteristics that typically arise from variations in the internal construction of side panels. The connector features a 4-pole 3.5mm diameter plug that supports balanced connections, enhancing usability and versatility. High-quality OFC conductors are used in the cable.
Comfortable Ear Pads
The new, thicker ear pads have low elasticity and snugly fit around the ears, ensuring a comfortable fit even during long listening sessions.
