Dolby Atmos is a technology developed specifically for audio equipment. Speaker systems supporting Dolby Atmos technology are speakers with expanded capabilities: in addition to standard drivers on the front panel (horizontal channels), they feature an additional driver with its axis directed upwards (vertical channel). By reflecting off the ceiling, the sound they reproduce fills the entire room where the system is installed. This technology also distributes soundtracks, reproducing individual audio objects, which allows for extremely detailed three-dimensional sound transmission. Focal's unique development, the Slatefiber diffuser, is made in France from recycled carbon fiber, filling a two-layer sandwich construction of thermoplastic polymer. To achieve impeccable sound quality, Focal engineers selected unidirectional non-woven carbon fiber, enhancing stiffness, improving damping properties, and at the same time imparting lightness to the construction - three pillars on which a high-quality speaker system stands. The exclusive Slatefiber diffuser is used in a wide range of Focal home, studio, and automotive speakers, renowned for their rich, dynamic, and balanced sound.
Manufactured at the Focal factory in France, the aluminum and magnesium TNF tweeter with an inverted dome provides clarity and smoothness in high frequencies. The dome suspension is made of Poron polyurethane with memory shape effect. The same suspension is used in the famous beryllium tweeter of the Utopia speaker systems, reducing distortions by one-third in the 2000 to 3000 Hz range, which is most sensitive to the human ear. The tweeter used in the Theva series provides impressive sound stage stability.
