The Slatefiber driver is manufactured in France using recycled carbon fiber, filling a two-layer sandwich construction of thermoplastic polymer. To achieve impeccable sound quality, Focal engineers selected unidirectional non-woven carbon fiber, enhancing rigidity, improving damping properties, and simultaneously adding lightness to the design - three pillars on which a high-quality speaker system stands. The exclusive Slatefiber driver is used in various models of Focal's home, studio, and car audio systems, renowned for its rich, dynamic, and balanced sound.
Made at the Focal factory in France, the TNF tweeter with an inverted dome made of aluminum and magnesium ensures the purity and smoothness of high frequencies. The dome surround is made of Poron polyurethane with shape memory effect, the same surround used in Focal's renowned beryllium tweeter in the Utopia speaker systems. It reduces distortions in the 2000 to 3000 Hz range by a third, which is most sensitive to the human ear. The tweeter used in the Theva line provides impressive stability to the soundstage.
The speaker system is available in sleek and attractive finishes of Black, Dark Wood, and Light Wood. Veneered side panels add a touch of coziness.
