The Focal Sopra №2 system comes with a 27 mm tweeter with a very rigid ultra-light concave dome coated with beryllium. The tweeter is housed in a module made of durable damping material - thermoset polyurethane. The module integrates a back chamber shaped like a reverse horn (IHL technology). The chamber absorbs waves emitted by the rear side of the dome membrane, minimizing distortions and lowering the resonant frequency value. As a result, clean sound with excellent dynamics and high resolution is guaranteed. A mini grille protects the tweeter, and the back of the module is also covered by a metal grille.
The Focal Sopra №2 uses a pair of 180 mm woofers to provide a dense, deep, and well-controlled bass. The woofers feature W-cones consisting of a layer of special foam material reinforced on both sides by thin layers of fiberglass. This lightweight sandwich construction achieves high rigidity and improves internal damping. The NIC technology stabilizes the magnetic field in which the coil is located, increasing dynamics and reducing distortions. Integrated into the slightly forward-tilted upper part of the cabinet is a 165 mm midrange driver with a similar W-cone construction and NIC technology. The suspension of the midrange driver has added masses acting as dampers (TMD technology) to minimize parasitic resonances caused by membrane movement.
The module with the integrated tweeter provides a slight forward tilt of the upper part of the speaker, while the lower part of the column is slightly tilted backward. As a result, the waves emitted by all drivers reach the listening position at the same time (Focus Time technology). The thick 69 mm front panel of the speaker has a sandwich structure, improving damping. The sides are non-parallel, and Helmholtz resonators are installed at the bottom of the cabinet to address internal standing wave issues. The phase inverter port is integrated into the base of the speaker and directed towards the tempered glass base with built-in adjustable spikes made of stainless steel.
The Focal Sopra №2 speakers have a modern ergonomic design and are available in glossy lacquer or natural veneer. The model is ideal for rooms up to 30 sq.m, and can easily handle rooms up to 70 sq.m in size.
