Focal Scala Utopia EVO has been equipped with an improved midrange driver with a "neutral inductive circuit" (NIC) and a TMD ring on a rubber suspension, which acts as a mass damper. Each of the three isolated sections is designed for its driver: a 6.5-inch midrange driver is placed in the upper section, a beryllium tweeter IAL2 is in the middle, and an 11-inch woofer is in the lower section.
The laminar port of the phase inverter is located in the gap between the bottom of the enclosure and a massive platform that isolates the speaker from the floor. The system also implements the proprietary Focus Time principle - to ensure that signals from the drivers reach the listener with minimal temporal dispersion, the midrange and tweeter sections are slightly tilted forward. Thanks to the use of Beryllium technology in the diaphragms, the speakers deliver high detail, accuracy, and purity of sound across the entire range. The extended frequency range, from 28 Hz to 40 kHz, allows for full-fidelity audio reproduction.
Equipped with a new generation switch panel, the Focal Scala Utopia EVO allows for Bi-amping connection for personalized sound tuning. The best components have also found their place in the lineup: custom-made internal wiring cables from France, denser damping material for the woofer section, bi-wiring connection, and separate crossovers.
The front and side panels of the speaker system are lacquered in the same color. Details are also important; the black color is present in the graphite black frame of the drivers and tweeter housing. These color combinations ensure overall design coherence, more harmonious and restrained, emphasizing the originality of the new finishing options.
