The Focal Scala Utopia EVO features an improved midrange driver with a "Neutral Inductive Contour" (NIC) and a Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) ring on a rubber surround, acting as a mass damper. Each of the three isolated sections is designed for its driver: a 6.5-inch midrange driver in the upper section, a beryllium tweeter IAL2 in the middle, and an 11-inch woofer in the lower section.
The laminar port of the bass reflex system is located between the bottom of the enclosure and a massive platform that decouples the speaker from the floor. The system also implements the signature Focus Time principle to reduce time dispersion, with the midrange and tweeter sections slightly tilted forward. By using Beryllium technology for the diaphragms, the speaker ensures high detail, accuracy, and clarity of sound across the entire range. With an extended frequency range from 28 Hz to 40 kHz, it can reproduce audio content in its full detail.
Equipped with a new generation switching panel, the Focal Scala Utopia EVO allows for Bi-amping connection for personalized sound tuning. The best components, such as custom-made internal wiring cables from France, denser damping material for the woofer section, bi-wiring connection, and separate crossovers, are also included.
The front and side panels of the speaker system are lacquered in the same color. Details matter as well, with black accents on the graphite-black speaker surrounds and tweeter housing. These color combinations provide overall design coherence, emphasizing the originality of the new finish options.
