The Focal Scala Utopia EVO is equipped with an improved midrange driver with a "neutral inductive contour" (NIC) and a TMD ring thickening on a rubber suspension, which acts as a mass damper. Each of the three isolated sections is designed for its driver: a 6.5-inch midrange driver in the upper section, a beryllium tweeter IAL2 in the middle, and an 11-inch woofer in the lower section.
The laminar port of the bass reflex system is placed in the gap between the bottom of the cabinet and a massive base, isolating the speaker from the floor. The proprietary Focus Time principle is also implemented in the system to ensure that signals from the drivers reach the listener with minimal time dispersion - the midrange and treble sections are slightly tilted forward. Thanks to the use of Beryllium technology, which is used in the creation of such diaphragms, the speaker provides high levels of detail, accuracy, and clarity throughout the range. Its extended frequency range from 28 Hz to 40 kHz allows for the reproduction of audio content in its entirety.
Featuring a new switching panel, the next-generation Focal Scala Utopia EVO allows for bi-amping connection for personalized sound tuning. The best components have also found their place in the lineup: custom-made internal wiring cables from France, denser damping material for the low-frequency section, bi-wiring connection, and separate crossovers.
The front and side panels of the speaker system are lacquered in the same color. Details are also important; the black color is echoed in the graphite-black trim of the drivers and tweeter housing. These color combinations ensure overall design consistency, making it more harmonious and understated, emphasizing the originality of the new finish options.
