At the moment, the Focal Kanta N1 speaker represents the only bookshelf acoustic system in the Kanta line. The model features a 27mm IAL3 tweeter, which has a rigid and very light concave dome coated with beryllium. In accordance with the IAL (Infinite Acoustic Loading) technology, this tweeter uses a small rear chamber that absorbs waves emitted by the back of the dome, eliminates reflections, prevents back pressure, and ultimately allows lowering the resonant frequency and minimizing distortions. This tweeter sounds very accurate and detailed.
Features:
- Heavy phase inverter enclosure made of molded plywood, cast front panel of high-density polymer;
- Modern design, wide selection of finish options;
- Type of enclosure: phase inverter, port built into the rear panel, plug included;
- 27mm tweeter IAL3 with inverted beryllium dome membrane, IAL (Infinite Acoustic Loading) technology, metal protective grille;
- 165mm midrange/woofer driver with sandwich diffuser (Flax flax fiber between two layers of glass fiber), TMD (Tuned Mass Damping) and NIC (Neutral Inductance Circuit) technologies;
- Recommended amplifier power from 25 to 150 watts per channel;
- Crossover frequency of 2400 Hz;
- Grille with magnetic fastenings.
The midrange/woofer section is powered by a 165mm driver with a composite diffuser based on lightweight flax fibers placed between two reinforcing layers of glass fiber. This "sandwich" ensures low weight, excellent rigidity, and exceptional damping. The driver uses NIC (Neutral Inductance Circuit) technology, eliminating the negative impact of eddy currents and optimizing the magnetic field in which the voice coil operates. The driver's suspension utilizes TMD technology, involving the use of special ring-shaped reinforcements, making the entire suspension system work as a mass damper. Thanks to this vibration damper, it is possible to eliminate parasitic resonances that occur when the driver membrane moves.
The thirteen-kilogram Focal Kanta N1 enclosure is made of special molded plywood alternating layers made from softwood and hardwood, reducing the influence of vibrations. The front panel is cast from a special high-density polymer (HDP), which is stiffer and denser than ordinary MDF boards. As a result, excellent damping is provided, and the smooth curves of the facade minimize diffraction. The upper part of the front panel has a slight tilt (Focus Time technology), allowing sound waves from the tweeter and midrange/woofer driver to reach the listening area with minimal time dispersion. The rear-facing port on the phase inverter is made according to the Power Flow technology, which eliminates dynamic compression. The top panel of the speaker has a glass finish, and the midrange/woofer driver is protected by a grille with magnetic fastening.
The Focal Kanta N1 bookshelf speaker is capable of filling rooms up to 25 sq. m. A wide selection of finishes is available for the speaker. There are options in glossy lacquer, natural veneer, and even the front panel can be presented in yellow or blue. Speaker stands with "paw" supports, into which spikes are screwed, are available as an option. According to the manufacturer, this speaker provides accurate, detailed, and musical sound.
