The synergy of Beryllium in the IAL3 tweeter and Flax in the midbass driver results in precise, detailed sound with high musicality and emotion. This is a new era for audio connoisseurs... The surprising width of the soundstage is evident from the very first moments of listening, unexpected for such compact speakers. When placed in furniture niches or near a wall, it's possible to adjust the system's bass response using a plug. Another key success factor of the series is a bold design approach that combines engineer's creation with decisively modern, expressive design.
Beryllium and Flax:
For the first time, a speaker with a Flax sandwich cone is paired with a Beryllium tweeter. Flax has an ideal combination of low mass, stiffness, and damping, providing clarity and precision in sound reproduction. This unique combination of Flax and Beryllium gives music an incredible warmth and musicality. The patented Flax cone, made in France, has already proven itself in Focal's studio, home, and car speakers. The midrange driver features a Tuned Mass Damping suspension, and every Kanta speaker is equipped with a Neutral Inductance Circuit magnetic system for perfect sound and bass control stability.
High-density polymer:
Everything is designed to make the sound soft and warm: the density and rigidity of the materials on the front panel and enclosure, the rounded edges of the cabinet, and the dual port design. The front panel is made of a new material to enhance acoustic parameters. It is entirely made of high-density polymer (HDP). This material has excellent properties: it is 70% denser, 15% more rigid, and provides 25% more attenuation than MDF. The special shape of the whole front panel eliminates any diffraction effects. Kanta features Power Flow technology with 2 ports on the front and rear panels to reduce bass compression.
Distortion eliminated:
Focal's research aims to reduce distortion in each frequency range. In Kanta, high frequencies are reproduced by a new Beryllium tweeter membrane. This IAL3 tweeter combines IAL (Infinite Acoustic Load) and IHL (Infinite Horn Loading) functions to absorb rear membrane radiation, thereby reducing resonance frequency.
Sound and style!
Focal engineers have reevaluated the "Focus Time" technology, correcting the position of the drivers by placing them at the same distance from the listener. The cabinet is made from a single piece of wood. The Zamac base is also crucial. Thanks to the spikes and stands, the base provides excellent stability with minimal footprint. Final details include a glass top and grilles with magnetic attachment. When removed, you can enjoy the natural uniqueness of each Flax driver - a final design touch that gives Kanta its unique look.
