Alpha 50 Evo is an updated model of near-field studio monitors from the Focal Alpha series. The monitors feature a 1-inch (25mm) aluminum tweeter and a 5-inch (13cm) woofer with a Slatefiber diaphragm, designed and manufactured in Focal's workshops in France. The models in this series stand out for their dynamics, tonal balance neutrality, and excellent sound coherence guaranteed at any volume.
The Slatefiber technology was first introduced in 2019 after more than four years of research and development. The composite diaphragm is made from recycled non-woven carbon fibers (Focal being the first audio company to use recycled carbon fibers in their drivers) and a thermoplastic polymer. The combination of these materials provides superior acoustic characteristics in terms of sound speed, rigidity, damping, and lightness.
The Alpha 50 Evo monitors can be connected using 1/4-inch (6.35mm) TRS, XLR, or RCA connectors. The back panel also includes an auto-standby switch, controls for bass and treble level adjustment, and input sensitivity switch. Mounting inserts for wall or ceiling installation are also provided. The high current load, provided by two amplifiers (60W), allows for full control of signal dynamics and achieving high volume levels without distortion.
The updated design with a front-facing port, rounded edges, and modern sturdy side panels is another significant advantage of the Alpha 50 Evo, contributing to acoustic integration and optimal aesthetics in any professional or home studio.
