Description
The slim floor-standing OPTICON 6 MK2 speakers are the cornerstone of the OPTICON MK2 series. They feature a special hybrid tweeter module that offers a significant breakthrough in sound quality. It has been enhanced for the OPTICON MK2 series by using a 29mm soft dome tweeter combined with a 17mm x 45mm ribbon tweeter enclosed in a cast aluminum panel. The reproduction of mid-range and low frequencies in the OPTICON 6 MK2 is handled by two 6.5-inch wood fiber drivers.

The OPTICON 6 MK2 offers bi-wiring connectivity, providing independent connections for low/mid and high frequencies. Dual low-frequency drivers, Dual Flare Reflex, and an increased internal volume due to the floor-standing design allow the OPTICON 6 MK2 to reproduce a much wider range of low frequencies and deep bass than its bookshelf counterparts. The speakers combine deep bass with precise mid-range clarity and detailed high frequencies characteristic of a DALI hybrid tweeter.
The DALI Opticon 6 MK2 speakers have a three-way configuration, but it is implemented in a somewhat unusual way. At the top of the front panel, there is a combined unit of two tweeters – a traditional dome tweeter and a ribbon tweeter. The crossover for them is tuned to frequencies of 2200 Hz and 14000 Hz – the dome tweeter reproduces sound primarily within this range, while the ribbon tweeter covers everything above 14 kHz up to 30 kHz (with a 3 dB drop). This results in airy and detailed high-frequency sound, allowing High Resolution format recordings to fully unleash their potential.
The low-frequency section of the DALI Opticon 6 MK2 speakers also consists of two 6.5-inch bass drivers with paper-wood fiber diaphragms mounted on rubber suspensions and an additional SMC element in the magnetic system. The upper bass driver is included via a crossover tuned to 800 Hz. Therefore, the overall configuration of the DALI Opticon 6 MK2 can be considered as 2.5-way, with an additional half frequency band from the ribbon super-tweeter. That's the math from the Danish company!
The speakers are equipped with a Dual Flare phase inverter, which has rounded edges on both sides of the output tube. This ensures smooth airflow and enhances the efficiency of the phase inverter. The DALI Opticon 6 MK2 speakers can be installed using the included spikes or rubber feet for damping.
