Chord Electronics Qutest is a pure DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter) that does not contain a headphone amplifier or battery power. It is designed to enhance the audio quality in home environments. It is the latest evolution of the most affordable standalone, multitasking 2Qute. Chord Qutest is based on our award-winning FPGA technology, which was developed for the class-leading amplifier/DAC Hugo 2, providing proven technical and sonic performance. Perfectly equipped to harness the benefits of our digital technology for a wide range of connected devices, it features a galvanically isolated USB-B input, optical and coaxial digital inputs, offering flexible connectivity options, as well as the ability to upgrade digital sources.
The chassis of Chord Qutest is also completely new. It has a significantly greater mass than its predecessor and is precision-machined from a solid aluminum billet. The Qutest circuit board is housed within a small cavity in the aluminum alloy enclosure, providing better protection against interference and additional isolation from external vibrations.
Chord Qutest offers its own filters for frequency selection, similar to Chord Hugo 2, and input signal filters, accessible via two panels on the enclosure, providing the user with flexibility. It also has RCA analog outputs for connection to integrated amplifiers, preamplifiers, and headphone amplifiers, as well as high-resolution digital inputs for connection to future Chord Electronics products. Another important feature is the user-selectable output voltage, ranging from 1, 2, and 3 VRMS, to accommodate a wide range of compatible devices.
