Chord Huei - a new compact phono preamplifier Huei (pronounced "hew-ee") adds connectivity for both MM (moving magnet) and MC (moving coil) cartridge types to amplifiers and preamplifiers.
The Chord Electronics Huei phono preamplifier encompasses 30 years of experience in designing and manufacturing amplifier circuits. The chassis, machined from a solid block of aluminum, shares the same form factor as the Chord Qutest DAC. Behind its sleek exterior, Huei incorporates components based on the design of Chord's high-class Symphonic phono preamplifier, along with a similar approach to their placement. Huei features a microprocessor-controlled interface and beautiful indicators. The idea is to make the complex easy to manage. It offers twelve impedance matching settings [47 kΩ (MM), 30 to 47 kΩ (MC)] and eight gain settings [MM: 25 dB to 35 dB, user-selectable 8-stage MC: 48 dB to 70 dB]. It also includes a rumble filter that provides -24 dB per octave below 50 Hz, employing the Rausch Slope profile. The maximum specified output voltage is 10 V RMS.
