The main changes have not only affected the external appearance, but also the electronic components.
It is worth noting the improved signal-to-noise ratio, which is now 100 dB in headphone amplifier mode and 82 dB in preamplifier mode, compared to the previous 88 dB. The frequency range has also been extended from 25 Hz - 30 kHz to 20 Hz - 45 kHz in headphone amplifier mode.
The foundation of any tube amplifier is, of course, the tubes themselves. In this amplifier, high-quality tubes from Electro-Harmonix, a leading American brand, have been used.
The front panel now features two additional controls. One is for selecting the input, and the other is for selecting the impedance of the connected headphones.
This is a significant improvement because with regular amplifiers, as the impedance of the headphones increases, the output power decreases. However, with this amplifier, higher impedance headphones will receive proportionally increasing power. In other words, the power output will be greater for headphones with higher impedance.
The design changes are also worth mentioning.
The strict and dull classic forms have been replaced with a unique finish using aviation-grade aluminum and natural wood, giving the device an authentic and charming look.
