The cardioid polar pattern effectively focuses on the sound source located in front, minimizing background noise, reflections, and feedback from the sides and back - especially important when recording in home settings with imperfect acoustics.
The unidirectional CAD U37 USB microphone has two switches on the front. The first allows you to reduce the microphone sensitivity for high-quality and clean recording of loud sound sources. For example, the switch should be set to "-10" for loud voices, percussion, and other high-pressure sound sources. For normal volume voices and string instruments, the preferred switch position is "0". If the recording is not clean or distorted, set the switch to "-10" and re-record.
The second switch is designed to reduce low-frequency sound reception. In most cases, the switch position should be set to "Normal Bass". However, if you want to eliminate wind noise, ventilation noise, or reduce low frequencies during recording, set the switch position to "Bass Reduction".
