The B&W M-1 speakers are an updated versatile compact satellite designed for small spaces, part of the brand's Mini Theatre lineup. Bowers & Wilkins offers ready-made solutions based on this speaker in the form of the compact MT-60D and MT-50 sets for home theaters, each including a subwoofer and 5 of these speakers.

The design of the model features modern smooth forms. Its rigid housing with a rear-facing port consists of two cast parts, one of which integrates a grille made of bent perforated steel mesh. Behind it is a new 1-inch tweeter with an aluminum dome membrane and a specially designed suspension and conical loading tube, similar to those found in the famous Nautilus models.
This design allows for the absorption of sound waves coming from the back of the membrane, providing high detail and accuracy in sound reproduction. The same engineers who worked on the company's best Hi-Fi speakers, including the CM series, were involved in the development of the tweeter. The mid/bass driver has a rigid 100mm diffuser made of woven glass fiber. It is equipped with a resonance-free cap made of foamed polymer to reduce unwanted vibrations, ensuring transparency in the midrange frequencies. The crossover point is at 4000 Hz.
The B&W M-1 satellites have an extended directivity diagram with a frequency range extending up to 23 kHz. The models come with desktop stands with a rod that has a ball joint at the connection with the body, allowing the speaker to be tilted upwards and up to 90 degrees to the side, turning it into a full-fledged center channel speaker.
The speaker cable connection is quite unusual, resembling the power cord attachment in a desk lamp. A mounting key is hidden in a rubber overlay on the base, making it easy to detach. Wall mounting brackets are included in the package, while optional tall stands are also available.
