Bowers & Wilkins 700 Series

The Bowers & Wilkins 700 Series consists of eight models: floorstanding, bookshelf, and center channel speakers that are known for their top-of-the-line sound quality and elegance in their class. The 700 Series features a range of cutting-edge technologies borrowed from our flagship 800 Diamond Series, trusted by many of the world's most famous recording studios. The new 700 Series brings studio-quality sound into homes in the form of elegant, high-quality models that cater to all preferences and fit into any interior.

Features:

  • Slim cabinets
  • Curved front panel with protruding driver capsules
  • Top-mounted tweeter in a solid anodized housing with enhanced decoupling
  • Continuum material woofer with FST suspension
  • Mechanical decoupling of midrange driver
  • Aerofoil-profile bass drivers
  • Downward-firing port
  • Enhanced terminal plates
  • Upgraded magnetic systems, chassis, and crossovers
  • Amplifier power: 30 to 200 Watts
  • Bionic suspension

The new 700 Series continues Bowers & Wilkins' policy of introducing concepts and technologies inherited from its flagship lineup. Extensive research over three years has transformed almost every element of the new series, from cabinet design, drivers, and finishes, to key acoustic and mechanical improvements.

Beautiful Design, Premium Details

For the first time in the 700 Series, slimmer cabinets with smoothly curved front panels and drivers installed in external "capsules" have been introduced in the new lineup, creating a direct visual and technical parallel with the 800 Diamond Series. This shape significantly reduces the influence of the front panel on sound quality, minimizing sound diffraction effects on the speaker cabinet. As a result, the new series acoustically "disappears" better than ever, allowing you to focus solely on the music without any cabinet resonances.

The new cabinet shapes are not only more elegant than before but are also available in a brand-new Mocha finish, a beautiful wood with a grainy pattern that perfectly complements the updated proportions and premium details of the new 700 Series speaker cabinets. Mocha joins the previously offered Gloss Black and Satin White finishes, forming a three-component range for most markets worldwide.

Enhanced Drivers, New Acoustic Forms

Taking a significant step forward in terms of acoustic characteristics, Bowers & Wilkins now offers its iconic tweeter technology in a solid aluminum housing in four models of the new 700 Series, representing half of the entire lineup. The HTM71 S3 center channel speaker now features a top-mounted tweeter. This means that owners can, for the first time in the 700 Series, create a complete home theater system based on models with tweeters on the top panel.

The design of the top-mounted tweeter has been completely redesigned in the new lineup. The elongated form of the tweeter's housing, made from a solid aluminum block as always, has significantly reduced distortions and ensured even cleaner sound. This elongated form is further improved by the introduction of a two-point vibration isolation, which better isolates the tweeter mechanically from the speaker cabinet, providing a more spacious and open soundstage.

Bionic Suspension

In all 3-way speaker systems of the new lineup, Bowers & Wilkins has introduced the revolutionary bionic suspension, first introduced last year in the new 800 Diamond Series. By replacing the traditional fabric centering ring with a bionic one, unwanted noises when the midrange driver operates have been significantly reduced.

Sound Quality Optimization

To provide the best platform for these drivers to succeed, the new 700 Series features upgraded speaker terminals based on the 800 Series, with stronger contacts better suited for use with spade connectors. Audio signals then pass to meticulously upgraded crossovers, which continue to use audiophile Mundorf capacitors complemented by several bypass capacitors. Heat sink radiators for the crossovers have also been improved to achieve an even cleaner sound.

All models in the lineup are equipped with upgraded larger diameter bass reflex ports, providing a more significant bandwidth for a more expansive and spatial sound.
