The new 700 Series continues Bowers & Wilkins' commitment to implementing concepts and technologies inherited from its flagship lineup. Through an extensive three-year research program, nearly every element of the new series has been transformed, from cabinet construction, drivers, and finishes to key acoustic and mechanical enhancements.
Beautiful design, premium details
For the first time in the 700 Series, slimmer cabinets with smoothly curved front panels and drivers mounted in external "capsules" have been introduced, creating a direct visual and technical parallel with the 800 Diamond Series. This shape significantly reduces the impact of the front panel on sound quality, minimizing sound diffraction effects on the speaker cabinet. As a result, the new series acoustically "disappears" better than ever, allowing you to focus solely on the music without being distracted by cabinet resonance.
The new cabinet shapes are not only more graceful than before but are also offered in a brand-new Mocha finish, a beautiful, wood with a textured grain pattern that complements the updated proportions and premium details of the new 700 Series speaker cabinets. Mocha joins the previously available Gloss Black and Satin White finishes, forming a three-component range for most markets worldwide.
Enhanced drivers, new acoustic forms
Taking a significant leap forward in acoustic characteristics, Bowers & Wilkins now offers its iconic tweeter technology in a massive solid housing in four models of the new 700 Series, representing half of the entire lineup. The HTM71 S3 center channel speaker now features a top-mounted tweeter. This means that for the first time in the 700 Series, owners can create a full home theater system based on models with top-mounted tweeters.
The top-mounted tweeter design itself has been completely reimagined in the new lineup. The housing of the new 700 Series tweeter, as always made of solid aluminum, has been significantly elongated to reduce distortions and provide even cleaner sound. This elongated form is further enhanced by the introduction of a dual-point decoupling system, which better isolates the tweeter mechanically from the speaker cabinet, delivering a more open and spacious soundstage.
In addition to these mechanical improvements, the tweeter dome retains the characteristics of Bowers & Wilkins' Carbon Dome model with a first-resonance frequency of 47 kHz, combined with enhanced ventilated voice coils and new magnets.
Bionic suspension
In all 3-way speaker systems of the new lineup, Bowers & Wilkins has introduced the revolutionary bionic suspension, first introduced last year in the 800 Diamond Series. By replacing the conventional textile centering washer with a bionic one, which is used in almost all speaker systems created over the past decades, unwanted noises during midrange driver operation have been significantly reduced.
When used in conjunction with all other patented Bowers & Wilkins technologies for midrange drivers, including vibration decoupling for the entire midrange unit, an aluminum driver chassis with tuned mass dampers to reduce resonances, FST fixed diaphragm suspension, and, of course, the famous Continuum material, we achieve simply stunning clarity of sound at midrange frequencies.
Optimization for sound quality enhancement
To provide these drivers with the best platform for success, the new 700 Series features updated speaker terminals based on the 800 Series, with stronger contacts and better compatibility with spade connectors. Audio signals are then passed to carefully upgraded crossovers, which continue to use audiophile Mundorf capacitors complemented by several bypass capacitors. Heat sink radiators for the crossovers have also been improved to achieve an even cleaner sound.
All models in the lineup are equipped with upgraded larger-diameter bass reflex ports, which have a higher throughput capacity, delivering a more expansive and spatial sound.
