The new 700 Series continues Bowers & Wilkins' policy of incorporating concepts and technologies inherited from its flagship line. As a result of an extensive three-year research program, almost every element of the new series has been transformed, from the construction of cabinets, drivers, and finishes, to key acoustic and mechanical improvements.
Beautiful design, premium details
For the first time in the 700 Series lineup, slimmer cabinets with smoothly curved front panels and drivers installed in external "capsules" have been introduced, forming a visual and technical parallel with the 800 Diamond Series. This shape significantly reduces the impact of the front panel on sound quality, minimizing the diffraction effect on the cabinet. As a result, the new series acoustically "disappears" better than ever, allowing you to focus solely on the music without distractions from the speaker cabinet.
The new cabinet shapes are not only more refined than before, but they also come in a new Mocha finish, a beautiful wood with a grainy pattern that complements the updated proportions and premium details of the new 700 Series speaker cabinets. Mocha joins the previously offered Gloss Black and Satin White finishes, forming a three-part assortment for most markets worldwide.
Enhanced drivers, new acoustic forms
Taking a significant step forward in acoustic characteristics, Bowers & Wilkins now offers its iconic tweeter technology in a solid aluminum housing in four models of the new 700 Series, constituting half of the entire lineup. The HTM71 S3 center channel speaker is now equipped with a top-mounted tweeter. This means that for the first time in the 700 Series, owners have the opportunity to create a full home theater system based on models with a tweeter on the top panel.
The top-mounted tweeter shape has also been completely redesigned in the new lineup. The elongated shape of the tweeter housing in the 700 Series has reduced distortion and provided even cleaner sound. This elongated shape is further enhanced by the introduction of a two-point vibration isolation, which better isolates the tweeter mechanically from the speaker cabinet, ensuring a more open and airy soundstage.
In addition to these mechanical improvements, the tweeter dome retains the characteristics of Bowers & Wilkins' Carbon Dome model with a first resonance frequency of 47 kHz, combined with improved vented voice coils and new magnets.
Bionic suspension
In all 3-way speakers of the new lineup, Bowers & Wilkins has introduced the revolutionary bionic suspension, first introduced last year in the 800 Diamond Series. By replacing the traditional fabric centering disk with a bionic one, unwanted noises during the operation of the midrange driver have been significantly reduced.
When used in conjunction with all of Bowers & Wilkins' patented technologies for midrange drivers, including vibration isolation for the entire midrange driver assembly, aluminum driver chassis with tuned mass dampers to reduce resonances, fixed FST diaphragm suspension, and of course, the famous Continuum material, the result is simply astounding clarity of sound in the midrange frequencies.
Optimization for improved sound quality
To provide these drivers with the best platform for success, the new 700 Series features upgraded speaker terminals based on the 800 Series, with stronger contacts better suited for use with spade connectors. Audio signals are then fed into carefully upgraded crossovers, which continue to use audiophile-grade Mundorf capacitors supplemented by several bypass capacitors. Heat dissipation radiators for the crossovers have also been improved to achieve even cleaner sound.
All models in the lineup are equipped with upgraded larger diameter bass reflex ports, providing greater bandwidth for a more expansive and spatial sound.
