Description

The DB Series represents the most advanced subwoofers ever released by Bowers & Wilkins. Continuing the tradition of the stunning DB1 subwoofer, each of the three models uses new digital technologies and new materials borrowed from the award-winning 800 Diamond Series loudspeakers.

Features:

  • Two oppositely located 8-inch woofers with Aerofoil diaphragms
  • Digital preamplifier, Dynamic EQ and Room EQ functions
  • 1000-watt D-class amplifier
  • Rigid closed enclosure
  • Balanced and unbalanced input

All three models boast immense power, featuring Aerofoil diaphragms and a completely new digital preamplifier section with Dynamic EQ system. The Bowers & Wilkins Diamond DB3D is genuine bass from a compact enclosure. If you need pristine bass but have limited floor space, your choice is the DB3D. This high-quality subwoofer can deliver unexpectedly deep bass from an extremely compact and incredibly rigid enclosure. Two 8-inch bass drivers with Aerofoil diaphragms in an opposing balanced configuration are powered by a 1000-watt D-class amplifier to deliver tight and deep bass.

Like all new DB Series subwoofers, the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond DB3D is extremely easy to set up and control, thanks to a special mobile app available for both iOS and Android devices. This app provides placement, setup, troubleshooting instructions, and can also be used to control output and audio mode presets. The Room EQ system allows you to optimize the subwoofer's sound for your room conditions using the microphone built into your smartphone (no separate calibration microphone needed).

The Bowers & Wilkins Diamond DB3D is the most compact subwoofer in the DB series, perfect for building a high-end home theater or stereo system in a small room. Despite its relatively modest dimensions, this "little one" can provide confident, dense, and deep bass, thanks to a well-thought-out design with a pair of opposing 8-inch woofers, a heavy rigid enclosure, and a built-in Hypex D-class amplifier with a full kilowatt of power.

The opposing arrangement of the two opposite-facing drivers helps reduce enclosure vibrations and achieve clean, natural bass without any coloration. The subwoofer pairs excellently with the iconic 800 Series Diamond loudspeakers, using similar lightweight and highly rigid Aerofoil diaphragms (the woofers in the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond DB3D are the same size as the midrange drivers in the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond 802 D3). The Aerofoil cones have varying thicknesses, ensuring increased strength in critical areas. As a result, smooth piston movement of the diaphragm is guaranteed, which, according to the manufacturer, can resist bends and deformations much longer than conventional speaker diaphragms. The subwoofer also pairs excellently with other loudspeakers, such as the CM series.

The Bowers & Wilkins Diamond DB3D model is equipped with a digital preamplifier providing optimal power level. It features Dynamic EQ and Room EQ equalizers onboard, allowing you to adjust the sound of the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond DB3D according to the characteristics of any listening room and audio system – be it a home theater, custom installation, or regular two-channel Hi-Fi setup. For control and settings adjustments, a special app for iOS and Android devices is provided, connecting to the subwoofer via Bluetooth. With this app and the Room EQ function, this model can be automatically calibrated without the need for a separate calibration microphone, as the smartphone's microphone takes on this role. The subwoofer is equipped with two balanced and two unbalanced input connectors.
