Bowers & Wilkins DB Series Diamond DB3D Subwoofer

The DB Series represents the most advanced subwoofers ever released by Bowers & Wilkins. Building on the success of the incredible DB1 subwoofer, each of the three models in this series incorporates new digital technologies and materials borrowed from the award-winning 800 Diamond Series loudspeakers.

Features:

  • Two oppositely positioned 8-inch Aerofoil cone woofers
  • Digital preamplifier with Dynamic EQ and Room EQ functions
  • 1000-watt Class D amplifier
  • Rigid closed cabinet
  • Balanced and unbalanced inputs

All three models are equipped with immense power, Aerofoil cone woofers, and a completely new digital preamplifier section with Dynamic EQ system. The Bowers & Wilkins Diamond DB3D delivers authentic bass from a compact enclosure. If you require impeccable bass but have limited space, the DB3D is the ideal choice. This high-quality subwoofer can produce unexpectedly deep bass from an extremely compact and rigid enclosure. Two 8-inch bass drivers with Aerofoil cones in an opposed, balanced configuration are powered by a 1000-watt Class D amplifier to deliver tight and deep bass.

Just like all new DB Series subwoofers, the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond DB3D is extremely easy to set up and control with a special mobile app available for both iOS and Android devices. The app provides guidance on placement, setup, troubleshooting, and can also be used to manage output and audio mode presets. The Room EQ system allows you to optimize the subwoofer's sound in your room conditions using the microphone built into your smartphone (no separate calibration microphone needed).

The Bowers & Wilkins Diamond DB3D is the most compact subwoofer in the DB series, making it perfect for building a high-end home theater or stereo system in a small space. Despite its relatively modest dimensions, this "little one" can deliver confident, dense, and deep bass thanks to a well-thought-out design with a pair of 8-inch opposed subwoofers, a heavy rigid enclosure, and a built-in Hypex Class D amplifier with a whole kilowatt of power.

The opposed placement of the two inversely directed drivers helps to reduce cabinet vibrations and achieve pure natural bass without any coloration. The subwoofer pairs excellently with the iconic 800 Series Diamond loudspeakers as it uses similar lightweight and very rigid Aerofoil cone woofers (the woofers in the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond DB3D are exactly the same size as the bass drivers in the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond 802 D3). The Aerofoil cones have varying thicknesses, ensuring enhanced strength in the most critical areas. This guarantees smooth piston movement of the diaphragm, which, according to the manufacturer, can resist bends and deformations much longer than the diaphragms of ordinary drivers. The subwoofer also pairs well with other loudspeakers, such as the CM Series models.

The Bowers & Wilkins Diamond DB3D model is equipped with a digital preamplifier, providing optimal power levels. It features Dynamic EQ and Room EQ equalizers onboard, allowing you to adjust the sound of the Diamond DB3D according to the features of any listening room and audio system, whether it's a home theater, custom installation, or regular two-channel Hi-Fi setup. To control and adjust settings, a special app for iOS and Android devices is provided, which connects to the subwoofer via Bluetooth. With this app and the Room EQ function, this model can be automatically calibrated without the need for a separate calibration microphone, as the smartphone's microphone takes on that role. The subwoofer is equipped with two balanced and two unbalanced input connectors.
