The built-in 2000W amplifier provides an impressive reserve of drive, solidity, and authority. Thanks to the brand new digital preamplifier, the powerful subwoofer always outputs optimum power levels. It uses 12-inch (300mm) bass drivers with Aerofoil diaphragms, identical to those in the flagship 800 Diamond Series loudspeakers. Installed in an opposing, balanced configuration, they drastically reduce cabinet vibrations and provide cleaner and more accurate sound. The result: fantastic, uncolored bass.
Like all new DB Series subwoofers, Bowers & Wilkins Diamond DB1D is extremely easy to set up and control, thanks to a special mobile application available for both iOS and Android devices. This app provides guidance on placement, setup, troubleshooting, and can also be used to control output and audio mode presets. The Room EQ system allows for optimizing the subwoofer's sound to your room conditions using the microphone built into your smartphone (no separate tuning microphone needed). Bowers & Wilkins Diamond DB1D is crafted in a medium-sized MDF enclosure and is available in black piano lacquer or natural wood finishes (cherry or rosewood). It is equipped with two 300mm bass drivers with Rohacell diaphragms operating in balanced mode, has a class D amplifier delivering a maximum power of 1000W.
The base of the subwoofer features a control system with a display and cursor buttons for navigating menus and adjusting settings. Bowers & Wilkins Diamond DB1D has 5 memory slots with different sensitivity settings, input filter characteristics, graphic equalizer, and room compensation; user settings for these parameters can also be saved in the unit's memory. These same buttons can be used to switch inputs. Sound adjustment can also be done via PC - in this case, connection is made to the RS232 connector on the rear panel of Bowers & Wilkins Diamond DB1D using the cable provided, with the B&W SubApp program running on the computer. Interestingly, the base with the display is rotatable - if desired, it can be turned 90 degrees relative to the rest of the cabinet.
Bowers & Wilkins Diamond DB1D subwoofer is equipped with a balanced mono input, unbalanced inputs (stereo and for connecting to a special low-frequency channel output), two trigger inputs (normal and menu-controlled), input for an external IR control system, and the aforementioned RS232 connector. Furthermore, the built-in software of Bowers & Wilkins Diamond DB1D can be updated via a separate USB input. The subwoofer comes with rubber feet and spikes - the choice of a specific variant depends on the type of flooring in the listening room. Thanks to its flexible sound adjustment and high-quality construction, Bowers & Wilkins Diamond DB1D can be used to sound practically any room.
