Acoustic system B&W CWM 664 is designed to be installed in the walls of the room being soundproofed. This model is very similar to the CWM 663, but is based on different speakers. A fiberglass diaphragm driver with a diameter of 150 mm is used here as the woofer. The woofer is mounted on an anti-resonant chassis and equipped with a powerful magnetic system with an enlarged diameter voice coil.
Features:
- Woofer with a fiberglass diaphragm;
- Tweeter with Nautilus loading;
- Frequency response correction in the high frequency range.
The use of different speakers has changed the sound characteristics of the speakers, which can be used to build audio systems with a specific sound profile. This type of driver is standard for many B&W speakers, and the CWM 664 model pairs well with models that have similar drivers (both built-in and cabinet). The speakers have a reliable and simple mounting system, allowing for quick and neat installation in a prepared hole. For additional convenience in installation, you can use the optional PMK W6 kit, and if necessary to provide the speakers with a fixed working volume, use the BB6W back box. The speakers have a protective grille with magnetic fastening that does not resonate even at high power levels.
The high-frequency driver in the B&W CWM 664 also has a Nautilus loading tube, but is equipped with a fabric dome instead of aluminum. The drivers are connected to a crossover filter, the parameters of which are selected to ensure a smooth frequency response in the transition zone between drivers, as well as minimal phase distortion. For additional correction of the tonal balance in the high-frequency range, a miniature three-position switch is located on the front panel of the speaker to the right of the tweeter.
