The Bowers & Wilkins 700 Series consists of eight models: floorstanding, bookshelf, and center channel speakers that are considered the best sounding and most elegant in their class. The 700 Series incorporates many of the most advanced technologies borrowed from our flagship 800 Diamond Series, trusted by many of the world's most famous recording studios. The new 700 Series brings studio-quality sound to the home in the form of elegant, high-quality models that cater to any preferences and suit any decor.
Features:
- Slimmer cabinet;
- Curved front panel with protruding driver capsules;
- Continuum material diaphragm with FST suspension and Aerofoil profile;
- Flowport bass reflex port;
- Enhanced terminal plate;
- Upgraded magnetic systems, chassis, and crossovers;
- Amplifier power: from 30 to 100 watts;
- Bi-wireable terminals.
The new 700 Series continues Bowers & Wilkins' policy of incorporating concepts and technologies inherited from its flagship line. Through an extensive three-year research program, almost every element of the new series has been transformed, from cabinet construction, drivers, and finishes to key acoustic and mechanical improvements.
Beautiful design, premium details
For the first time in the 700 Series, slimmer cabinets with smoothly curved front panels and drivers housed in external "capsules" are introduced, forming a direct visual and technical parallel with the 800 Diamond Series. This shape significantly reduces the front panel's impact on sound quality, minimizing sound diffraction effects on the cabinet. As a result, the new series acoustically "disappears" better than ever, allowing you to focus solely on the music without distraction from the cabinet's echoes.
The newly designed cabinets are not only more elegant than before - they are also offered in a completely new Mocha finish, a beautiful wood with a grain pattern that perfectly complements the updated proportions and premium details of the new 700 Series speaker cabinets. Mocha joins the previously available Gloss Black and Satin White finishes, forming a three-component range for most markets worldwide.
Improved drivers, new acoustic shapes
Taking a significant step forward in acoustic characteristics, Bowers & Wilkins now offers its iconic tweeter technology in a solid housing in four models of the new 700 Series, accounting for half of the entire lineup.
In addition to these mechanical improvements, the tweeter dome retains the characteristics of Bowers & Wilkins Carbon Dome model with a first resonance frequency of 47 kHz combined with improved vented voice coils and new magnets.
The 707 S3 features Bowers & Wilkins patented technologies for midrange drivers, including vibration isolation for the entire midrange assembly, an aluminum driver chassis with tuned mass dampers to reduce resonances, a fixed suspension Continuum diaphragm, and of course, the famous Continuum material, delivering astonishing transparency in mid-range sound.
The 707 S3 has also been upgraded with new magnetic systems and improved chassis for cleaner sound. At the same time, the driver diaphragm uses the latest generation Aerofoil technology from Bowers & Wilkins, based on a composite "sandwich" of materials with a carefully shaped variable profile aimed at delivering cleaner, low-distortion bass.
Optimization for enhanced sound quality
To provide these drivers with the best platform for success, the new 700 Series introduces upgraded speaker terminals based on the 800 Series, featuring stronger contacts that are better suited for use with spade connectors. Audio signals then pass to carefully upgraded crossovers, which continue to use audiophile Mundorf capacitors supplemented by several bypass capacitors. The crossovers now have improved heat sinks for even cleaner sound.
All models in the lineup are equipped with upgraded larger diameter bass reflex ports, providing a more significant bandwidth for a more expansive and spatial sound. The 707 S3 come with ultra-durable M6 spikes.
