The Bowers & Wilkins 700 Series consists of eight models: floorstanding, bookshelf, and center channel speakers that are the best sounding and most elegant in their class. The 700 Series incorporates many of the most advanced technologies borrowed from our flagship 800 Diamond Series, trusted by many of the world's most famous recording studios. The new 700 Series brings studio-quality sound to the home in the form of elegant, high-quality models that cater to any preference and fit any interior.
Features:
- Slimmer cabinet;
- Curved front panel with protruding driver capsules;
- Continuum cone with FST suspension and Aerofoil profile;
- Flowport bass reflex port;
- Enhanced terminal plate;
- Upgraded magnetic systems, chassis, and crossovers;
- Amplifier power: from 30 to 100 watts;
- Biometric suspension.
The new 700 Series continues Bowers & Wilkins' policy of incorporating concepts and technologies inherited from its flagship lineup. Extensive research over the course of three years has transformed nearly every element of the new series, from the construction of the cabinets, drivers, and finishes, to key acoustical and mechanical enhancements.
Beautiful design, premium details
For the first time in the 700 Series, slimmer cabinets with smoothly curved front panels and drivers installed in external "capsules" have been introduced, forming a direct visual and technical parallel with the 800 Diamond Series. This design significantly reduces the influence of the front panel on sound quality, minimizing sound diffraction effects on the cabinet. As a result, the new series acoustically "disappears" better than ever, allowing you to focus solely on the music without distractions from the speaker cabinet.
The new cabinet shapes are not only more elegant than before but are also offered in a brand-new Mocha finish, a beautiful wood with a grainy pattern that perfectly complements the updated proportions and premium details of the new 700 Series speakers. Mocha joins the previously available Gloss Black and Satin White finishes, creating a three-component range for most markets worldwide.
Upgraded drivers, new acoustic forms
Taking a significant step forward in acoustic characteristics, Bowers & Wilkins now offers its iconic tweeter technology in a massive solid housing in four models of the new 700 Series, comprising half of the entire lineup. In addition to these mechanical improvements, the tweeter dome retains the characteristics of Bowers & Wilkins' Carbon Dome model with a first resonance frequency of 47 kHz, along with improved vented voice coils and new magnets.
The 707 S3 features Bowers & Wilkins' patented technologies for midrange drivers, including vibration isolation for the entire midrange unit, an aluminum driver chassis with tuned mass dampers to reduce resonances, a fixed FST diffuser suspension, and the famous Continuum material, resulting in astonishing clarity on mid-range frequencies.
The 707 S3 has also been modernized with new magnetic systems and improved chassis for cleaner sound. The latest generation Aerofoil technology from Bowers & Wilkins has been incorporated into the driver diaphragm, based on a composite sandwich of materials with a carefully shaped variable profile to achieve cleaner bass with low distortion.
Sound quality optimization
To provide the best platform for these drivers to succeed, the new 700 Series features upgraded speaker terminals based on the 800 Series, with stronger contacts suitable for use with spade connectors. Audio signals pass through carefully modernized crossovers, continuing to use audiophile Mundorf capacitors supplemented by several bypass capacitors. Heat sinks for cooling the crossover have also been improved to achieve even cleaner sound.
All models in the lineup are equipped with upgraded larger diameter bass reflex ports, providing greater bandwidth for a more expansive and spatial sound. The 707 S3 comes with ultra-durable M6 spikes.
