The Bowers & Wilkins 700 Series consists of eight models: floorstanding, bookshelf, and center channel speakers that are the best sounding and most elegant in their class. The 700 Series incorporates many of the most advanced technologies borrowed from our flagship 800 Diamond Series, trusted by many of the most famous recording studios worldwide. The new 700 Series brings studio-quality sound to the home in the form of elegant, high-quality models that cater to any preference and fit any interior.
Features:
- Slimmer cabinets;
- Curved front panel with protruding driver capsules;
- Continuum material diaphragm with FST suspension and Aerofoil profile;
- Flowport phase inverter port;
- Enhanced terminal panel;
- Upgraded magnetic systems, chassis, and crossovers;
- Amplifier power: 30 to 120 Watts;
- Bionic suspension.
The new 700 Series continues Bowers & Wilkins' policy of incorporating concepts and technologies inherited from its flagship lineup. After an extensive three-year research program, almost every element of the new series has been transformed, from cabinet design, drivers, and finishes, to key acoustic and mechanical improvements.
Beautiful design, premium details
For the first time in the 700 Series, the new lineup features slimmer cabinets with smoothly curved front panels and drivers installed in external "capsules," forming a direct visual and technical parallel with the 800 Diamond Series. This shape significantly reduces the impact of the front panel on sound quality, minimizing the diffraction effect of sound on the cabinet. As a result, the new series acoustically "disappears" better than ever, allowing you to focus solely on the music, not the cabinet resonance.
The new cabinet shapes are not only more elegant than before but are also offered in a brand-new Mocha finish, a beautiful wood with a grainy pattern that complements the updated proportions and premium details of the new 700 Series loudspeaker cabinets. Mocha joins the previously offered Gloss Black and Satin White finishes, forming a three-component range for most markets worldwide.
Improved drivers, new acoustic forms
Making a significant leap forward in acoustic characteristics, Bowers & Wilkins now offers its iconic tweeter technology in a massive solid housing in four models of the new 700 Series, accounting for half of the entire lineup.
In addition to these mechanical improvements, the tweeter dome maintains the characteristics of Bowers & Wilkins' Carbon Dome model with a first resonance frequency of 47 kHz, combined with improved vented voice coils and new magnets.
The 706 S3 features patented Bowers & Wilkins technologies in the midrange drivers, including vibration isolation for the entire midrange unit, an aluminum driver chassis with tuned mass dampers to reduce resonances, a fixed FST diaphragm suspension, and, of course, the famous Continuum material, delivering astonishing clarity in mid-range frequencies.
The 706 S3 speakers have also been revamped with new magnetic systems and improved chassis for cleaner sound. At the same time, the driver diaphragm utilizes the latest generation Aerofoil technology from Bowers & Wilkins, based on a composite "sandwich" of materials with a carefully shaped variable profile aimed at producing cleaner bass with low distortion.
Optimization for improved sound quality
To provide the best platform for these drivers to succeed, the new 700 Series features upgraded speaker terminals based on the 800 Series, with stronger contacts better suited for use with spade connectors. Audio signals flow to meticulously upgraded crossovers, which continue to use audiophile Mundorf capacitors supplemented by several bypass capacitors. Radiators to dissipate heat from the crossovers have also been improved for even cleaner sound.
All models in the lineup come with upgraded larger diameter phase inverter ports, offering greater bandwidth and providing a more expansive and spatial sound. The 706 S3 speakers come with ultra-durable M6 spikes.
