The new Series 700 continues Bowers & Wilkins' policy of integrating concepts and technologies inherited from their flagship line. Extensive research over three years has transformed almost every element of the new series, from cabinet construction, drivers, and finishes to key acoustic and mechanical improvements.
Beautiful Design, Premium Details
For the first time in the Series 700, slimmer cabinets with gently curved front panels and drivers installed in external "capsules" have been introduced in the new lineup, creating a direct visual and technical parallel with the Series 800 Diamond line. This shape significantly reduces the impact of the front panel on sound quality, minimizing sound diffraction on the cabinet. As a result, the new series acoustically "disappears" better than ever, allowing you to focus solely on the music without distractions.
The new cabinet shapes are not only more elegant than before but are also offered in a new Mocha color finish, a beautiful wood with a grainy texture that complements the updated proportions and premium details of the Series 700 speakers. Mocha joins the previously offered Gloss Black and Satin White finishes, forming a three-component range for most markets worldwide.
Enhanced Drivers, New Acoustic Forms
Taking a significant step forward in acoustic characteristics, Bowers & Wilkins now offers their legendary tweeter technology in a single solid housing in four models of the new Series 700, accounting for half of the entire lineup.
In addition to these mechanical improvements, the tweeter dome maintains the characteristics of Bowers & Wilkins' Carbon Dome model with a first resonance frequency of 47 kHz combined with improved vented voice coils and new magnets.
The 706 S3 feature patented Bowers & Wilkins technologies in midrange drivers, including vibration isolation for the entire midrange assembly, aluminum driver chassis with tuned mass dampers to reduce resonances, fixed FST diaphragm suspension, and the famous Continuum material for astonishing sound clarity in mid-frequencies.
The 706 S3 speakers have also been upgraded with new magnetic systems and improved chassis for cleaner sound. At the same time, the driver diaphragm incorporates the latest generation Aerofoil technology from Bowers & Wilkins, based on a composite material "sandwich" with carefully shaped variable profiles aimed at achieving cleaner bass with low distortion.
Sound Quality Optimization
To provide the best platform for these drivers to succeed, the new Series 700 introduces upgraded speaker terminals based on the Series 800, featuring stronger contacts and better compatibility with spade connectors. Audio signals are processed through meticulously upgraded crossovers, continuing to use audiophile Mundorf capacitors supplemented by several bypass capacitors. Heat sink radiators for the crossovers have also been enhanced for even cleaner sound.
All models in the lineup are equipped with upgraded larger diameter bass reflex ports, providing a more significant soundstage and spatial sound. The 706 S3 come with super sturdy M6 spikes.
