  • Amplifier power: from 30 to 200 Watts.
  • Bionic suspension.

The new Series 700 continues Bowers & Wilkins' policy of incorporating concepts and technologies inherited from its flagship line. Extensive research over three years has transformed nearly every element of the new series, from the construction of cabinets, drivers, and finishes to key acoustic and mechanical improvements.

Beautiful Design, Premium Details

For the first time in the Series 700, slimmer cabinets with smoothly curved front panels and drivers mounted in external "capsules" have been introduced in the new lineup, creating a direct visual and technical parallel with the Series 800 Diamond. This shape significantly reduces the impact of the front panel on sound quality, minimizing sound diffraction effects on the enclosure. As a result, the new series acoustically "disappears" better than ever, allowing you to focus solely on the music without distraction from cabinet resonances.

The new cabinet shapes are not only more elegant but are also offered in a brand new Mocha finish, a beautiful, grainy wood design that complements the updated proportions and premium details of the new Series 700 speaker cabinets. Mocha joins the previously available Gloss Black and Satin White finishes, forming a three-component range for most markets worldwide.

Enhanced Drivers, New Acoustic Forms

Taking a significant leap forward in acoustic characteristics, Bowers & Wilkins now offers its iconic tweeter-in-a-sturdy-cabinet technology in four models in the new Series 700, half of the entire lineup. Floorstanding speakers like the 702 S3 and 703 S3, as well as bookshelf 705 S3 and center channel speaker HTM71 S3, now feature top-mounted tweeters. This means that owners can create a full home theater system based on models with top-mounted tweeters in the 700 series.

The design of the top-mounted tweeter has also been completely revamped in the new lineup. The housing of the new tweeter in the 700 series, as always made from a solid aluminum block, has been significantly elongated to reduce distortion and provide even cleaner sound. This elongated shape is further enhanced by the introduction of a two-point vibration isolation system, which better isolates the tweeter mechanically from the speaker cabinet, ensuring a more open and expansive soundstage.

In addition to these mechanical improvements, the dome tweeter retains the characteristics of Bowers & Wilkins' Carbon Dome model with a first resonance frequency of 47 kHz, combined with improved vented voice coils and new magnets. Even models equipped with front-panel tweeters — 707 S3, 706 S3, 704 S3, and HTM72 S3 — benefit from all these changes, alongside significantly elongated loading tubes that work to reduce distortion and provide cleaner sound.

Bionic Suspension

In all 3-way speaker systems of the new lineup, Bowers & Wilkins has introduced a revolutionary bionic suspension, first introduced last year in the new 800 Diamond Series. By replacing the traditional fabric surround of the centering spider with a bionic one, which is used in almost all speaker systems created over the past decades, unwanted noises from the midrange driver have been significantly reduced.

When combined with all other patented Bowers & Wilkins technologies in the midrange drivers, including vibration isolation for the entire midrange unit, aluminum driver chassis with tuned masses of dampers to reduce resonances, fixed FST driver surround, and, of course, the famous Continuum material, the result is astonishing clarity in mid-range sound.

Optimized for Sound Quality Improvement

To provide these drivers with the best platform for success, the new Series 700 introduces upgraded speaker terminals based on the Series 800, with more robust contacts better suited for use with spade connectors. Audio signals pass through to meticulously modernized crossovers, which continue to use audiophile Mundorf capacitors, supplemented by several bypass capacitors. Heat sinks for cooling the crossovers have also been improved to achieve an even cleaner sound.

All models in the lineup feature upgraded larger diameter bass reflex ports, providing more significant bandwidth for a more expansive sound. The 703 S3 comes with extra durable M6 spikes.
