Each new model in the 800 D4 series combines hundreds of improvements to individual components with several brand new technologies, resulting in acoustic systems that offer the most transparent, detailed, and natural sound ever produced by Bowers & Wilkins.
One of the key innovations is the revolutionary Biomimetic Suspension for midrange drivers, which rethinks the fundamentals of traditional drivers. By mimicking the design of bird wings, this suspension structure eliminates unwanted sounds from the moving fabric disc, ensuring unprecedented transparency and realism in midrange frequencies.
Each model in the new series also features an enhanced version of the iconic massive tweeter-on-top enclosure, with a longer Nautilus loading tube for even freer and more open high-frequency sound. The extremely rigid enclosure effectively suppresses unwanted resonances, especially when combined with the new dual-point decoupling system that mechanically isolates it from the rest of the speaker.
In the HTM81 D4, the enclosure has undergone significant upgrades, including improved Matrix bracing internal structure and an aluminum enclosure for the midrange driver to enhance sound quality. It provides a controlled environment for the midrange driver, preventing air leaks.
Bowers & Wilkins' hallmark technologies from previous generations, like the legendary diamond dome tweeter, Continuum material, FST surrounds on midrange drivers, Aerofoil bass drivers, and Flowport phase inversion port, are all still present in the HTM81 D4.
The Bowers & Wilkins HTM82 D4 is a 3-way speaker system equipped with a 25mm diamond dome tweeter, 130mm FST midrange driver with Continuum diaphragm, and two 200mm bass drivers with Aerofoil diaphragms.
